Take A Look At Some Case Studies
Case Study - 5 month scoliosis and cognitive transformation
Oct 28 2019 > Jan 7 2020 > March 13 2020
✅ Improvements in scoliotic curve
✅ Improved joint stacking and scapular positioning
✅ Improved balance and coordination
✅ Improved cognitive function and proprioception
Due to severe head trauma received early last year, training @melissathewong has been a tedious process. Dynamic movement has been all but off the table as her cognitive functions would decline rapidly resulting in dizziness and a loss of balance.
The changes seen here have been brought about entirely by the application of @functionalpatterns correctives (IMAPS) and myofascial release. Training in relation to our biomechanical blueprint targets all systems of the body, including the vestibular system so it’s no surprise to see an improvement in her balance and coordination as we start to ramp up her dynamic movement. Looking forward to continued results from this dedicated client.

Case Study - Straighten Scoliosis Naturally After Post-Surgery Relapse

✅ Decompressed lumbar
✅ Improved hip positioning
✅ Decreased Pain
✅ Improved head position
✅ Improved quality of life and sleep
✅ Improved Symmetry
Courtney had a 50 degree curve T6-T11 before having spinal fusion in 2002 via thoracotomy, bringing the curve to 7 degrees. A second curve developed in 2018 from T5-L2 of 40 degrees which can be seen in the photo on the left. With a steel rod in the thoracic spine, there is a limitation to what we are able to do. Nevertheless, her quality of life is improving along with the structure of her spine as it comes closer to neutral. Moreover, the changes that she is implementing to get these results are surgery-free and majorly reduce the risk of another curve appearing in the future. This is why it is SO important to address the underlying course and structure and avoid surgical bandaids when it comes to scoliosis.
How Does Courtney Feel About This?
Straightening a Spine From A-Z (What Training With Functional Patterns Atlanta Looks Like)
Exercises for people with scoliosis
In order to begin to naturally straighten a scoliosis, you will need to activate the muscles that have deactivated due to the curve. As you can imagine; as your spine pulls in one direction, the muscles pull to that side, disengaging important muscles that are supposed to be keeping your spine in alignment.
Although Functional Patterns cannot be explained in a couple of sentences, the basic premise involves the activation of necessary muscles through the use of functional movement. Reactivating these muscles can take some time. However, with the help of an experienced Functional Patterns practitioner, you should be able to be assisted into positions during exercise that will switch your muscles back on. Once you begin to feel these muscles again while training, you will begin to notice more symmetry in your structure and less pain.
While everybody is different, this has been the experience of many people who have given Functional Patterns a chance. We have helped many people avoid spinal surgery by straightening their spines naturally.
